ARC 257- Design II

This project examines the relationship between form and function in architectural design.  It encourages the awareness of truth, whatever position the designer takes, and promotes the arbitrary aesthetic of “functional” beauty.

This is a project that focuses on the fit of three-dimensional massing and ordering systems as the design generator in the context of existing forms and three-dimensional systems. It explores the diagrammatic analysis of existing systems and patterns; the idea of integrated fit into an existing order that also highlights new patterns and values. 

The purpose of this project is to create a design for a non-denominational chapel on the campus of Farmingdale State College. The College wants this to be a profoundly spiritual place that people of all faiths can worship and reflect on life’s events.
